Universal Orlando: Surfside Inn hotel, Bigfire restaurant now open for business

Universal Orlando Resort has two significant grand openings on its hands this week. Surfside Inn and Suites, the first phase of the Endless Summer resort, debuted Thursday, June 27, and Bigfire, an original-concept restaurant, opened to the public at Universal CityWalk on the evening of Wednesday, June 26.

Orlando plant-based restaurant HUMBL opens first location in Windermere next week

HUMBL, a new plant-based, fast-casual concept based in Orlando, will "whisper open" its first location in Windermere on Monday, said members of its executive team. And don't hassle them - they're local.

CEO Paul Mascia calls Winter Garden home, while COO Eric Koeser lives in Windermere. HUMBLE's chief culinary officer, Chef Matthew Kenny, is based in L.A., but has ties to the Orlando metro, as well. Area vegans may remember hius involvement in Winter Park's former raw-food haven Cafe 118 at a time when the pickings for the city's plant-based diners were far slimmer than they are these days.

Marcus & Millichap Negotiates $11M Sale of Retail Center in Central Florida

HAINES CITY, FLA - Marcus & Millichap has arranged the $11 million sale of Heart of Florida Shopping Center in Haines City. THe 131,500-square-foot southwest of downtown Orlando. The shopping center was originally bult in 1984. At the time of sale, 82 percent of the center's tenant lineup was national retailers including Dollar General, Tractor Supply, and Big Lots. The buyer was a Florida investor in a 1031 tax-deferred exchange. TIm Giambrone of Marcus & Millichap represented the seller, a New York investor, in the transaction

Stephanie Murphy: FAA Sending $4.5 million to Sanford International Airport
